Find A Golf Club Fitter: Golf Club Fitting Centers Near You

If you want to improve your game, it pays to find a golf club fitter near you and talk nicely to them. Here’s why…

Do you remember that trusty old club that never let you down? Maybe it was a fine persimmon driver, a whippy little rescue club, that ever-reliable PING 1-iron, a rust-encrusted “Sandy Andy”, or a beat-up hickory-shafted putter. We’ve all carried clubs like that in our golf bags, and no matter how atrocious our golf was on any given day, we could always depend on hitting at least a few respectable golf shots with that faithful old club. Shots that reminded us that despite all outward appearances to the contrary, we still “had it” and there really was no need to give up golf just yet. Shots that brought us back to the golf course the next day to give it another go.

But then we fell under the spell of the golf marketers and were seduced by the Golf Channel, Golf Digest, late-night infomercials, the top golf pros, and the big-name club manufacturers, who promised us 30 yards more off the tee, iron shots that flew like laser-guided missiles, and championship-winning golf scores if only we’d junk those unfashionable old clubs and buy a shiny new set of clubs – the latest and greatest! – from that golf pro at the country club, or the big-box golf retailer down the road. And against our better judgment, we did. But our golf did not get better: it got worse, and a year or two later there we were, with another new set of clubs in the bag, and the much-vaunted old clubs sitting silent and forlorn and gathering dust in the basement. Sound familiar?

“The great thing about golf is that sometimes you really can blame your clubs…”

It used to be the case long ago that good players assembled a set of clubs by trial and error until eventually, they came up with a set that broadly speaking matched their swing and golf specifications. This involved much waggling of each prospective new club, back-weighting, lead taping, bending, building up the grips, and grinding the soles of the irons. If you want to see an extreme example of what such a set of clubs might have looked like, pictured here is the set of Top Flite golf irons the great Moe Norman – arguably the greatest ball-striker ever – played with back in the 1970s. Not exactly the prettiest set of clubs in the shop, but boy, could he make those clubs talk.

Today we can speed up this process by orders of magnitude – and without our clubs having to look like they came from Dr. Frankenstein’s golf laboratory – by custom fitting. In fact, by working with a qualified golf fitting professional you might be able to accomplish in a single day what players in former times may have taken years to arrive at: a set of clubs that truly works with your swing, not against it. So if you’re done with missing the fairway off the tee, or frittering away strokes around the greens, now is the time to find a golf club fitter near you and begin to take your golf game to the next level.

“But where can I get custom fitted for golf clubs?”

Many retail golf stores now offer custom club fitting as standard, and in addition, there are plenty of specialist golf clubfitters and custom golf club builders who can provide fittings independently of the major golf retailers and club fitting franchises. However, finding these independent golf fitters online is not always easy because some older clubfitting websites were built on slower and non-responsive platforms that tend not to be favored now by search engines. Thus, even though the fitting services being provided and the quality of the work at these fitting locations might be excellent, they finish up a long way down the search engine results pages and are lost down there amongst all the general detritus and irrelevant results.

On the other hand, many newer clubfitting websites tend to be fairly light on information, and in fact, the people who build them seem to be more concerned with overpowering the visitor with eye-catching images and sliding gizmos than providing the factual information and details required for them to make an educated decision about whether to use their service or not.

A curated directory of custom clubfitting sites

With these considerations in mind, I set about compiling a curated directory of websites offering club fitting services in the United States and internationally, so that golfers could view and compare them in one place and shop around, away from all the irrelevant search engine results.

Criteria for inclusion

To compile this directory I reviewed hundreds of club fitting websites and noted the owner/fitter’s profile, including what types of fittings they offered, what fitting technologies they used, what prices they charged (if shown), what brands of golf clubs they fitted, the credentials of the site owner or fitter, any awards they had received from golf magazines or clubfitting organizations, and other relevant information such as the types of players they worked with (e.g. adult men and women, kids, beginners, high-ranking amateurs, and golf pros).

This allowed me to distinguish between places that simply put different clubs in customers’ hands from a demo cart and those with specialist knowledge and credentials, such as a master club fitter, someone who had been trained and certified by an equipment company, or a member/graduate of a club fitting organization.

At the same time, it was noticeable that for about 10-20% of US states there were very few clubfitter websites, so my inclusion criteria were more relaxed for those since I figured that any kind of golf fitting is better than none at all.

The best golf club fitting centers I could find

Listed below are links to clubfitters and fitting centers in all 50 states of the US, as well as internationally. All sites were working when listed and the links are checked regularly using a broken link checker. However, it’s unavoidable that websites will go offline from time to time for various reasons, and companies sometimes merge, re-brand or upgrade to different domain names, leading to the dreaded 404 error. If you notice that a site is unavailable and it appears to be more than temporary please let me know so I can keep the listings up-to-date.

US-based fitting centers

Use these links to find a golf club fitter in your state. For ease of accessibility, you can also use the drop-down menu in the sidebar.

Alabama | Alaska | Arizona | Arkansas | California | Colorado | Connecticut | Delaware | Florida | Georgia | Hawaii | Idaho | Illinois | Indiana | Iowa | Kansas | Kentucky | Louisiana | Maine | Maryland | Massachusetts | Michigan | Minnesota | Mississippi | Missouri | Montana | Nebraska | Nevada | New Hampshire | New Jersey | New Mexico | New York | North Carolina | North Dakota | Ohio | Oklahoma | Oregon | Pennsylvania | Rhode Island | South Carolina | South Dakota | Tennessee | Texas | Utah |Vermont | Virginia | Washington | West Virginia |Wisconsin | Wyoming

Multi-location fitting centers in the US

Some golf fitters have locations in dozens of different states. To avoid too much repetition these companies are listed here. However, if they have outlets in states where the number of specialist golf fitters is very small I have also included them there as well.

Internationally-based clubfitters

This link leads to international clubfitters based in Canada, the UK, and other countries. I am still working on expanding this section.

Clubfitters: use this website to promote your custom fitting business

If you’d like to use this site to promote your custom fitting business, here are some ideas:

Request a review of your store or facility’s website

If you own or operate a club fitting business and would like to have it included in this directory, please email me and request a review. Sites will be reviewed manually. There is no charge for listing your site but only custom clubfitting businesses will be considered, in line with the criteria stated above.

To speed up the process, please provide the following information:

  • Your name, website, and shop/business address;
  • A short description (150-300 words).

When writing your description please consider including at least some of these points:

  • Where you’re located and how much club fitting experience do you (or your fitter) have?
  • What club fitting packages do you provide, and if you also offer lessons?
  • Are club fittings done in a shop or indoor fitting center or is the fitting done on a driving range or practice fairway?
  • Do you use nets for your golf fittings or can customers see the full ball flight?
  • What club fitting certifications/qualifications/awards do you or your fitting staff hold?
  • What technologies (e.g. Trackman) do you use for ball flight data capture when fitting clubs?
  • What golf equipment brands are you capable of fitting for?
  • Anything else that’s unique or interesting about yourself or your golf fitting business?

I’ll review your site as soon as possible and may edit the description slightly to match the style of the rest of the site. If at any stage you’d like to amend your listing or delete it please let me know.

Expand your listing

If your site is already listed but there’s other information you’d like to include in the description, let me know and I’ll be happy to include it. And from time to time you might have news that the golf public might be interested in – such as new golf store openings, sales, gifts and giveaways, notable achievements, awards, videos, etc. If it’s suitable for inclusion I’d be happy to look for a way of publicizing it on this site.

Share your knowledge

If you have specialist knowledge related to clubs and club fitting, consider submitting a guest article. The full article should be about 1000 words long and should address a problem, question, or topic that would interest club fitters or general visitors to this site. At the end of the article, you may place a link back to your golf site and some brief information to promote your company. Please email me in advance with your proposal and we can take it from there.

Link to this site

Put a link on your website to the page where your business is listed. This is an excellent way of showing your potential customers that your site has been independently reviewed and included in a directory of the best golf fitting businesses in your state or region.
